Spain ‘s best bartenders met on February 4 at Sitges to participate in the IV National Final of the BACARDI Legacy Cocktail Competition, a bartending professional contest aimed at worldwide bartenders selected for their talent and originality.
During the competition , 6 finalists from Barcelona, Madrid, Valladolid, Gijon and Sevilla had to prove their ability , originality and technique against other candidates. One after another, each participant submitted their proposal of cocktail to the jury as well as its manufacturing process and inspiration.
Antonio Naranjo has been declared the winner with cocktail Mr.Massó , “I feel a great responsibility with this award, this has been a tournament of very high quality but I came here to win . Becoming champion with Bacardi is something that I have yet to assimilate ” has confessed. The second prize went to Jorge Antonio Oliva of mixology ” Warsaw” in Gijon , with cocktail ” The Hindu ” , while Raul Rexach got in third place after submitting the cocktail ” Daiquiri Turkish “.
Antonio Naranjo will represent Spain at the International Final that will be held in Moscow next May, there he will be competing against the winners from more than other 20 countries for the annual BACARDI Legacy Cocktail Competition. Also starting today, ” Mr.Massó ” will be the cocktail of the year and will be part of the legacy BACARDI Superior rum along with other legendary cocktails like the Original BACARDI Daiquiri , the BACARDI Mojito , the BACARDI Cuba Libre and the Original BACARDI Piña Colada .
New this year on the jury, BACARDI has enjoyed the presence of Elisavetha Evdokimova, winner of the last edition of the BACARDI LEGACY Global Cocktail Competition 2013 held in Puerto Rico . Among the other jurors has been the mixologist and businessman Javier de las Muelas , the president of the bartender’s club in Catalonia and owner of mixology Ideal from Barcelona, José M ª Gotarda , the journalist of La Vanguardia newspaper and associate director of Diari de Vilanova, Ramon Francás, the director of the school of Hospitality and Tourism – CETT, Nan Ferreres, the president of the Spanish Association of Barmen, Pepe Dioni, the sales manager and large accounts BACARDÍ Spain, Jesús Bilbao and the CEO of Casa Bacardi Sitges, Xavier Pacheco.
